Q&A with Alexandra

Why did you choose law as your career path?

As a joke, I always say I was bred to be a lawyer. My mother was a divorce and custody attorney and my dad was a district and superior court judge. They never pushed me into law, but I saw the tangible ways that their knowledge of the law could help people.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

On the estate planning side of my practice, I really enjoy helping people think through their final wishes so that they can gain some peace of mind about the future.

On our business planning side, I love being a small part of local businesses and seeing them succeed and grow. I love recognizing my clients’ businesses as I drive around town and I love reading about the wonderful things they are doing with their success.

What do you love most about Alaska?

I absolutely love being by the water and it’s what I missed the most about Alaska when I went to school in Arizona. I am happiest when I am walking around a lake, dipping my toes in an ice-cold river, or sitting by the ocean whale watching.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love yoga, walking, swimming, quilting and vegetable gardening.

What is your favorite “Alaskan” activity?

My favorite Alaskan activity is fishing. Mostly I just love being by the water with my fishing pole. The catching is not my forte.

Is there anything you’d like to share about your family?

I am married and have a son. We also have a dog, three cats and a fish tank. All of our immediate family still lives in Alaska so we are fortunate that we can get together on a regular basis.

What is one interesting thing you have on your desk?

I recently read the book “Everything is Figureoutable” by Marie Forleo. I have a daily calendar with little inspirational ideas from the book. I love the motto and I love the daily reminders. Thinking “Everything is Figureoutable” really helps me be creative and think outside the box to help my clients.
